Zinc air batteries, which generate electricity by chemical reactions between zinc and oxygen in the air atmosphere, are considered as next-generation batteries that will replace lithium-ion batteries in the future. In theory, it has various advantages with high capacity, energy density, stability, eco-friendliness, and price competitiveness. Thus it has the potential to meet the rapidly increasing energy demand. However, there is a disadvantage that performance is degraded due to slow catalytic reactions of oxygen reduction and evolution reactions occurring in the cathode. In addition, since most of the catalysts currently used are expensive precious metal materials, developing non-precious metal-based catalysts is essential for commercialization.
